Sodium formate is commonly known as formic acid is widely used in the process of printing and dyeing. It is used to increase the pH of acids and is used in the form of a buffering agent. It is used as a de-icing agent and is generally used as a food additive.

Uses of Sodium Formate

Sodium formate is a buffering agent for strong mineral acids. It also a food additive agent. sodium formate is used as cryoprotectant for x ray diffraction. It could reduce the effects of radiation damage.
