Lanthanum Hydroxide, also called Lanthanum Hydrate, is mainly applied in specialty glass, water treatment, and catalysts.
Properties
Appearance : White powder
Chemical Formula : La(OH)3
Assay (purity) : 99.99%
Molecular weight : 189.93
Solubility: soluble in acid, insoluble in water
Synonym: Lanthanum trihydroxide
Uses of Lanthanum Hydroxide
Small amounts of Lanthanum are added to steel to improve its malleability, resistance to impact, and ductility, whereas the addition of Lanthanum to Molybdenum decreases its hardness and sensitivity to temperature variations. Small amounts of Lanthanum are present in many pool products to remove the Phosphates that feed algae.
Catalysis: Used as a catalyst or catalyst support in chemical processes.
Ceramics: Serves as a raw material for the production of high-performance ceramics.
Phosphors: Plays a crucial role in the creation of phosphors used in lighting and displays.
Environmental Remediation: Used in wastewater treatment to remove phosphates and other contaminants.
