Ferric Pyrophosphate

Ferric pyrophosphate, with the chemical formula Fe₄(P₂O₇)₃, is an inorganic compound that usually appears as a yellowish-white powder. It is slightly soluble in water and acetic acid, but can be dissolved in inorganic acids, alkaline solutions, and citric acid. Ferric pyrophosphate has low solubility in cold water and is insoluble in cold water.

Uses of Ferric Pyrophosphate

1. Food additives: Ferric pyrophosphate is used as a nutritional supplement in the food industry, especially in light-colored foods, such as flour, cereals and table salt, to supplement iron.

2. Synthetic fiber fire retardant: Ferric pyrophosphate can be used to improve the fire performance of synthetic fibers.

3. Anticorrosive pigments: In the coating industry, ferric pyrophosphate can be used as anticorrosive pigments.

4. Catalyst: In some chemical reactions, ferric pyrophosphate can be used as a catalyst.

5. Pharmaceutical field: Ferric pyrophosphate can also be used in the pharmaceutical field, such as as as a blood tonic agent.
