Trimagnesium phosphate, generally refers to magnesium phosphate, is a white or yellowish powder with the chemical formula Mg3(PO4)2 that belongs to inorganic compounds. It usually exists in the form of water containing 4, 5 or 8 crystals, dissolved in ammonium citrate, but almost insoluble in cold water. When heated to 150 °C, crystalline magnesium phosphate octahydrate will lose 5 crystal water, and at 400 °C, it will lose all the crystal water and become anhydrous.
Uses of Trimagnesium phosphate
1. Food industry: Trimagnesium phosphate is used as a stabilizer and improver in the food industry, especially in dairy products, bread and biscuits. It helps to increase the stability of the product, improving the taste and appearance.
2. Pharmaceutical production: In pharmaceutical production, trimagnesium phosphate is used as a raw material for antacids and antispasmodics. It is able to relieve stomach pain and treat stomach ulcers.
3. Cosmetic Ingredients: Trimagnesium phosphate is also used as an ingredient in cosmetics such as moisturizers, antisensitizers, and antibacterial agents to help keep the skin moisturized and healthy.
4. Nutritional Supplement: It is also used as a nutritional supplement, providing magnesium and phosphorus, two minerals that are very important for human health.
5. Anti-caking agent: In powdered products, trimagnesium phosphate can act as an anti-caking agent to prevent the product from caking.
6. Precipitant: In the chemical and environmental protection fields, it can be used as a precipitant to help remove certain ions from the solution.
7. Dental materials: Trimagnesium phosphate can also be used in the preparation of dental materials, such as dental research abrasives.
8. Water treatment: In industrial water treatment, trimagnesium phosphate can be used to control the hardness of water and reduce the formation of scale.
