Potassium Stannate

Potassium Stannate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula K2Sn(OH)6, which is produced by the reaction of stannic acid  with potassium hydroxide. Potassium stannate is usually found in the form of white or colorless crystals that are highly oxidizing and can be stable in air.

Main uses of potassium stannate

1. Chemical synthesis: Potassium stannate can be used as a raw material for chemical synthesis, especially in organic synthesis, it can be used as an oxidizing agent or reducing agent.

2. Anticorrosive agent: Due to the strong oxidizing property of potassium stannate, it can be used for the anti-corrosion treatment of metals, especially in the surface treatment of steel, aluminum and other metals.

3. Textile treatment: Potassium stannate can be used as a fire treatment agent for textiles to improve the flame retardant performance of fabrics.

4. Pharmaceutical industry: Potassium stannate also has a certain application in the pharmaceutical industry, it can be used as a sustained-release agent or stabilizer of drugs.

5. Ceramic industry: In the ceramic industry, potassium stannate can be used as a flux to reduce the sintering temperature of ceramics and improve the density and finish of products.

6. Pesticides and insecticides: Potassium stannate can also be used as an ingredient in some pesticides and insecticides to help control pests.
