Rhodium Sulfate

Rhodium sulfate (O12Rh2S3) is a reddish-yellow solid with strong hygroscopicity that decomposes into brown at 208°C. It is easily soluble in water, ethanol, as well as a 3:1 ethanol/water mixture. The density of rhodium sulfate is 1.217 g/mL at 25°C. It has a boiling point of about 330°C at 760 mmHg. Rhodium sulfate is mainly used as precious metal plating reagents and additives, and is used as a catalyst and additive in the electroplating process.

1. Electroplating: Rhodium sulfate is used as a catalyst and additive in precious metal plating, especially in the process of electroplating rhodium.

2. Catalysts: In the chemical industry, rhodium sulfate can be used as a catalyst to facilitate specific chemical reactions.

3. Analytical chemistry: In analytical chemistry, rhodium sulfate can be used as a reagent for the detection and quantification of rhodium content.

4. Materials Science: Rhodium sulfate can also be used to prepare various materials and compounds containing rhodium for research and industrial applications.
